The ARA Mental Health Action, Research & Advocacy Association of Greater Vancouver seeks to work in a cooperative, non-competitive way, with the existing services in enhancing the quality of life for people living in the community. Advocacy services in a variety of areas undertaken exclusively for mental health patients.

Provides information and referrals to women and families in the community; violence and abuse counselling for women and their partners, and a Safe House for women and children leaving abusive household.

A social recreation center for seniors with an information and referral facility, and three major advocacy projects: seniors advocacy project, multicultural seniors advocacy project and Women Elders in Action (We*Act).

The British Columbia Public Interest Advocacy Centre is a non-profit society that advances the interests of groups that are generally unrepresented or underrepresented in issues of major public concern. They usually take on cases that in the interests of low income residential consumers, of disadvantaged groups in obtaining access to justice and equality before the law, and unmet advocacy needs in both established and emerging areas.

Working to bring forward rural women's voices from around British Columbia to influence change with government and industry policy on issues relating to low-income and communication services.

Settlement workers provide information, referral and advocacy services to new immigrants and refugees. Service provided in English and Vietnamese, however, interpreters are available to assist in many other languages.

Advocacy to youth and their families in the areas of income assistance, residential tenancy, family law, disability, and small claims. Administered by the Cariboo Friendship Centre.

The Community Advocate acts as an information resource for individuals and families while working to enhance people's ability to solve life challenges and transitions.

• Housing - Residential tenancy issues for tenants

• Canada Pension Plan - Disability applications and appeals

The purpose of the Community Legal Assistance Society (CLAS) is to provide legal advice and assistance and to use and develop the law for the benefit of people who are physically, mentally, socially, economically or otherwise disadvantaged or whose human rights need protection.

Provides advocacy for persons facing issues related to poverty, welfare, disability assistance, human rights, employment standards and rental/housing issues, will refer persons to other community services or advocacy organizations as needed, and recommend persons set up appointments with advocates.
