CCSA Briefing Notes: Poor No MoreMay 27, 2008 - 2:08pm
Date: Jun 13 2008 - 10:00am Location: Ottawa, ONWhat: What role can filmmaking, documentaries and story telling play in Canada's fight against poverty? Can seeing what others have accomplished − through the eyes of people living with poverty − help make a more compelling case for change? David Langille and Suzanne Babin, executive producers of Poor No More, think they can. Come join us on June 13th to learn about a feature documentary that will take poor Canadians on a personal journey to see first-hand what is being done here and in other countries to reduce and eliminate poverty. Langille and Babin will speak about this exciting new venture at the CCSD’s Briefing Notes session on June 13th in Ottawa. In a style similar to Michael Moore’s Sicko, this documentary will cut through the rhetoric to explore what is being accomplished in the struggle against poverty, and how individuals, governments and communities can change the structures that create poverty in the first place. If other countries can make progress, why can’t we? Where: Holiday Inn Hotel, 111 Cooper Street, Ottawa Who: Contact: Louise Clarke, Finance & Outreach Officer, Tickets: $10 for CCSD Members Please note: ( categories: Ontario )
