Canadians push for EI changes

Organizations, individuals and provincial governments from across Canada are calling on the federal government to make drastic changes to the Employment Insurance program. Presently only fifty-four percent of workers are eligible for the program and workers who do qualify only receive fifty-five percent of their previous earnings. On January 27th, the Finance Minister will be presenting the next federal budget and there is hope that there will be added money for retraining and extended benefits.
