Race, Poverty and LGBT rights

An article in RaceWire looks at the myth of gay affluence and how poverty affects queer people of colour. Recent research looked at American census data and found queer couple families are significantly more likely to be poor than straight married couple families. Lesbian couples and families, people of colour same-sex couples and transgendered people have especially high rates of poverty.
