Vancouver 2010 Tenant Registry Form

Organization:
City of Vancouver
About:

As part of the City of Vancouver's preparations for hosting the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, the City has relaxed the Zoning and Development By-Law to allow the rental of dwelling units (condos/apartments, houses, secondary suites etc.) for less than 30 days. The by-law prevents owners from renting temporary accommodation if the dwelling unit is occupied by a tenant after June 1, 2009.

To help identify dwelling units that are occupied by tenants, the City of Vancouver has created an online tenant registry. Tenants should fill out a registry form if they are concerned that the dwelling unit they occupy may be converted from long term rentals to rentals shorter than 30 days in contravention of the by-law.

*Note this will only help tenants whose landlords are renting their suites legally during the Olympics.

If you are concerned that you may be evicted (in contravention of the Residential Tenancy Act), we recommend you contact the Residential Tenancy Branch via their web site or by phone at 604.660.1020.
