According to Stats Canada the number of Canadians receiving regular EI benefits declined in July 2009 which is likely a result of unemployed workers running out of EI benefits without finding a job. Stats Canada also reports that new EI claims have declined which may mean that less worker qualify for benefits or that the pace of layoffs has slowed slightly.
