Poverty Reduction (and ISAC) in the News

Some news from the Income Security Advocacy Centre (ISAC):

First, the 25in5 Network for Poverty Reduction, of which ISAC is a partner, has released its accountability report on the first year of the government’s poverty reduction strategy.

The report cautions that government risks missing its target of a 25% reduction in child and family poverty by 2013 unless further action is taken.

In addition, there is late-breaking news on the Social Assistance Review that government promised one year ago.

Ontario is announcing an Advisory Group to make recommendations to the Minister of Community and Social Services on how to fix the province’s broken social assistance system.

Mary Marrone, ISAC’s Director of Advocacy and Legal Services, is being appointed to this group, along with many other anti-poverty advocates and activists.
