Island Community Seeking Solutions To Poverty

British Columbia's smaller communities have been hit hard by the same ongoing economic recession, and staggering job losses that affect urban areas. On Gabriola Island, a project hiring unemployed residents to work on social projects is getting underway. 4 unemployed residents are now working with People for a Healthy Community on Gabriola Island to provide vegetable gardens for low-income residents, and developing a strategy targeting the island's youth.
