October 17, International Day for the Eradication of Poverty

Since 1993, today has been recognized by the United Nations, and its members around the world, as International day for the eradication of poverty 2011. Today, October 17, 2011, the United Nations repeated its call for the eradication of poverty, while media and governments took note of efforts to solve poverty locally and globally.

United Nations Development Programme is challenging people to get involved by taking one action against poverty to participate in a larger change.
