PovNet goes to Revelstoke to talk about poverty reduction

Local research indicates 20 per cent of Revelstoke (and area) residents are struggling to meet their basic needs and Revelstoke has some of the highest rent and food prices in the region. Due to the increase in poverty and the effects it is having on the community, Revelstoke is starting to create a strategy for understanding and reducing poverty in their community.

Last week, Penny Goldsmith from PovNet and Jim Sands from SPARC BC visited Revelstoke to attend a workshop on poverty reduction poverty which was attended by 30 service providers and other members of the community.
