Ontario Law Commission recommends vast changes to protect vulnerable workers

Women, racialized persons, immigrants, temporary migrant workers, persons with disabilities, youth, Aboriginal persons and non-status workers are more likely to hold low wage, temporary jobs with no benefits. The rise of precarious jobs for vulnerable workers has led the Law Commission of Ontario (LCO) to release its Final Report on Vulnerable Workers and Precarious Work. The report makes 47 recommendations including reforming Ontario’s outdated Employment Standards Act, more protection for foreign workers and increased enforcement.
