Older Women's Dialogue Project finds older women face barriers due to poverty

For the last year, the Older Women’s Dialogue Project has been exploring the pressing law and social policy issues impacting older women and what they can do to address these barriers to improve the quality of life for older women.

They have recently finished a report called, Your Words Are Worth Something: Identifying Barriers to the Well Being of Older Women that shows that poverty is one of the key issues older women struggle with. The report suggests some solutions including addressing the gendered causes of poverty among older women, increasing financial supports for grandparents raising grandchildren, and raising the rates for income assistance and old age security.
