Migrant advocacy groups challenging foreign worker deadline

Advocacy groups estimate that there are an estimated 70,000 temporary workers in Canada whose contracts are suppose to end today due to the federal government's changes to the temporary foreign worker program. Workers who have lived in Canada for more than four years are now here without legal documents and may be deported.

Advocacy groups across Canada, like Migrant Workers Alliance for Change and Temporary Foreign Workers Support Coalition in Alberta have been trying to educate the public about the exploitation of foreign workers, change discriminatory immigration and labour policies and help foreign workers know their rights.
