Telephone wait time for BC welfare recipitants higher than ever

BCPIAC as part of their Access to Welfare campaign requested documents under the Freedom of Information Act from the Ministry of Social Development and Social Innovation's automated telephone inquiry line. The documents show that telephone wait times to social assistance have increased to nearly one hour. Many welfare recipients do not own phones or use "pay as you go" plans that run out quickly.
