Job Description: 

Funded by the Law Foundation of BC, JES is developing legal education teaching resources that improve the legal capability of BC students and comply with BC’s curriculum. Legal Capability provides students with the knowledge, skills, and, understanding they need to confidently engage with the law, and, to assert themselves across legal, social, and, political fields of interaction.

JES has an immediate need to hire two research assistants to help support teachers/writers who will produce legal education instructor guides for Social Studies grades 5 to 12. Remuneration is $1000.00 for contract-based work that must be completed by March 31st, 2019.

Skills and Qualities Required: 

• Demonstrated experience conducting social studies research, especially legal research
• Ability to respond to a variety of research requests in a timely manner
• Familiarity with BCs new curriculum, especially social studies topics
• Prior experience or expertise suitable to this project
• Work schedule flexibility that enables independent work and the ability to meet a tight content development deadline
• Ability to communicate by voice and email, as well as via video
conference applications
• Experience with common business software and technologies
Duties and Responsibilities: Working with a team of writers, provide requested research to support the development of legal education instruction guides for grade levels 5 to 12.
