Migrant Workers Centre (MWC) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing legal aid to live-in caregivers and other temporary foreign workers in British Columbia. MWC is also engaged in public legal education, law reform and systemic advocacy initiatives. We are currently recruiting a Summer Member Coordinator to work in our downtown Vancouver office to assist with developing and managing our membership program.
• Between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment;
• Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred, and legally entitled to work in Canada;
• Experience using Microsoft Office, Word Press, Facebook and Twitter;
• Strong written and oral communication skills;
• Ability to work with diverse populations in a sensitive and respectful manner;
• Strong organization and administration skills;
• Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and be flexible with work assignments;
• Demonstrated interest in social justice issues;
• Must possess an understanding of the core values of our organization;
• Knowledge of Tagalog will be considered an asset; and
• Prior experience in grassroots organizing will be considered an asset.

• Planning and implementing an outreach and communications strategy for our membership program;
• Developing information content for the MWC website, Migrants’ Voice newsletter, social media platforms, and text messaging platform;
• Developing and coordinating skills-building and leadership trainings and related materials for members to promote grassroots migrant worker engagement;
• Organizing meetings and other activities for members; and
• Performing other duties as required.
