Job Description: 

The Indigenous Elder’s Program Coordinator is responsible for providing cultural, recreational, social and/or educational programs that are consistent with the mission and mandate of the DEWC. She will ensure a process of consultation in the planning, development, and implementation of cultural programs and activities. She will provide support to the Indigenous Elder’s group as well as Indigenous Elder accessing the Centre. In collaboration with the DEWC Cultural Programmer, she will ensure relevant programming that maximizes decision making and participation of the Elder’s group members.

Skills and Qualities Required: 

✔ You have at least 3 years experience working with low-income women, at least 2 years in a women serving or inner-city drop-in environment
✔ You will promote and articulate the mission, mandate, philosophy, and values of the Downtown Eastside Women's Centre You are knowledgeable of the issues impacting Indigenous women in the dtes, including gender-based violence, mental health, homelessness, and addictions with an understanding of trauma-informed care responses.
✔ You have experience developing and facilitating cultural programs and groups including developing and maintaining community partnerships
✔ You have efficient organizational skills including record keeping, scheduling, and problem-solving abilities
✔ You have or will obtain certification for First Aid, and NVCI
